Thy Kingdom Come
/When I was a member of the Girl’s Auxiliary, our goal was that the group will continue to expand and more girls will be added to the group until the kingdom of God comes into the hearts of girls all over the world. The GA hymn “we’ve a story to tell to the Nations” also talk about the coming of the kingdom of God. The refrain says, “For the darkness shall turn to dawning, and the dawning to noonday bright, and Christ's great kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom of love and light. Is it only the GAs that is expecting God’s kingdom? Who want to show to the world that they have a relationship with God and want all nations to reconcile with Him? No! Everyone talks about it and want it, but the question is, do we really want the Kingdom of God to come?
If the kingdom of God will come, that means we must have heaven on earth. We must be prepared to give up those things that look valuable and important to us, but they are distractions, hindrances and obstacles of letting the kingdom of God to come. We must let go of greed and lust of possessions, of power, and selfish ambitions. We should be ready to accommodate and tolerate one another, love one another, allowing peace to reign among us, feed the hungry, care for the dying, rescue the perishing, do things that are right and just, do away with jealousy, envy, hatred, backbiting, anger, malice and rage, and pursue righteousness, peace, and acceptance. We must let go of our fear, anxiety, guilt, depression, problems and learn to trust only in Him, the author and finisher of our faith.
If we want the kingdom of God to come on earth, there must be a drastic change on individual, national and global levels. When we give room for a change and allow God to rule our lives, let go of things that causes distractions in loving God and our neighbors, we will enjoy unity, peace, security, and freedom. Then, we can boldly say, Lord, “Let thy Kingdom Come.”
