Looking Unto Jesus

Psalms 34:5

“They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.”

The psalmist is very optimistic about a God who can save, heal, protect and help in any situation. He understood the God who is able and abundantly able to save and deliver if only we can trust in Him. He knew that when he calls on the name of the Lord, look unto Him as the author and the finisher of his faith, the Lord is always near.

The psalmist is telling anyone who cares to look unto God will never be put to shame. This is an expectation and assurance of founding light and comfort in God when we look unto Him in our troubles, trials and tribulation and we will find relief. The expectant or anxious look will depart when help comes, our heart will be lightened and a brightened face appears. Amen. This is the confidence we have that looking unto God is to be calm in Him, the assurance that He would protect us, heal our wounds, and our countenance becomes radiant with joy. The last part of that verse says we will not be ashamed or disappointed of putting our trust in God.

Friend, keep your head up, fix your eyes on Him, you will be lightened with joy, peace and comfort and you will never be ashamed for trusting in God. Amen.
