Pride Comes Before Destruction

1 John 1: 9

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

‭‭

We mess up numerous times but all the Lord requires of us is to humble ourselves and ask for forgiveness. Then turn away from our wicked ways and He will forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It is just that simple but what keeps us in this whirlwind of sin is our pride and that spirit that just can’t let go to what God has said is unprofitable for us. We know it is wrong, yet we keep holding on to sin as if it is what is sustaining us. We keep holding on to what is wrong, thinking it will change. Christ has clearly defined to us what is right and wrong, now what we need to do is listen and let that sin go. How hard is that? It is not hard at all, but our pride keeps getting in the way of our forgiveness. The word of God says that pride comes before a fall and if we keep holding on to what is wrong, we will find ourselves falling deep in sin, sinking to rise no more. I don’t know about you but it would be foolish to keep eating spicy food if it is going to damage my stomach and cause me to have surgery. Sin is bad food and if you keep living in your sin, eventually it will destroy your testimony. That sin will cause you not to bear any fruit. That sin will keep you away from fulfilling the “Great Commission.” That sin will cause you to bear unnecessary pain in your life. That sin will send you toward more sin. The enemy will start making you feel as if there is no return, but you can return from a life of sin by repenting, which is turning away from sin. Then confess with your own mouth that you are sorry. When you come with this humble spirit, it invites the Holy Spirit to dwell in you and allow the Father to wipe your slate clean. Then the Father will empower you to live a life that will be pleasing in His sight. Now this is the life to live. A life that is pleasing to God. A life that will take its eyes off of sin and look toward the cross of salvation and start glorifying God and all His righteousness. We only have one life to live and that life should be walking toward eternal life with God the Father and God the Son. Well, in order to live this life of purpose, you must put your life in the Master’s hands and live the way He wants you to live. Yes this journey is not easy and He did not say it would be, but He did give us a way to escape and that is by coming to Christ and saying you are sorry and to forgive you of your wrong choices. Don’t be prideful, just humble yourself and come to Jesus with a repentance heart. He’s waiting for you with open arms.

Be blessed!
