The Overcomer

John 16: 33 When I read this scripture, I began to think about the chaos that is all around. It is not easy to think of other things when the media and even the people in your circle are always throwing the tremendous pain and suffering of this world in your face. Everywhere you turn is suffering and pain. Many times when all around us is pain and suffering we loose focus. We forget about what we know to do when chaos is all around. We really get amnesia and start following the path of how the world deals with disaster and fear. Child of God, you are above whatever is going on in this world because you serve a God that says He has overcome the world, but the reason you can’t experience His peace is because you have lost focus. Your mind is on the situation instead of redeeming the time given to you in the situation.

John 16:33

““I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.””

One of our ministers this past week reminded us that in the midst of chaos and confusion we need to maximize the time. In the midst of chaos and confusion, we should be spending time seeking the Lord while He can be found and while His promise is still valid that says, Lo I am with you always unto the end of time. In the midst of chaos and confusion, we should be forsaking evil and turning our mind toward the Lord and walking in His will for our life. In the midst of chaos and confusion our focus should be on the Lord through prayer, fasting and soul searching. How many of you right now are so focused on the chaos around you instead of taking the time you have to seek the Lord’s face and His wisdom. I will encourage you not to spend all day absorbing the chaos in this world but spend time absorbing the word of God. The word of God is what will see you through, not the chaos around you. The word of God says, “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, meaning have joy, the joy the world will never have, knowing that I have overcome this world.” Whatever is going on around you God knows about it and has given you a way to escape through His Word, through prayer and fasting. You are an overcomer, so don’t get depressed because our God has overcome every demonic spirit that is plaguing this world. Be encouraged today and put your focus on “The Overcomer.”
