Do What’s Right

Proverbs 21:3 Have you heard that old saying that says, “ If you do right you come out right!” Well God’s word today says almost the same thing. He expects us to follow His lead in everything we do. When He walked this earth, He did nothing but good. He treated everyone right. He was firm, but also aware of who He was dealing with day by day. As we journey through life, we too should strive each day to be more like Christ. We should be caught doing nothing but good. We should treat everyone right even our enemy. I didn’t say you had to be all in their face smiling all the time because Jesus had His enemies but still He treated them fairly. He showed no hate or evil intent toward anyone.

Proverbs 21:3

“To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” ‭

We should be firm with who we are in Christ Jesus. We should NEVER compromise our belief to anyone or anything, but we must be aware of our surroundings and treat people cordially. The word of God is quite simple today, it clearly states that the Lord is pleased when we do right better rather than our sacrifices. Now what does that mean when it says “sacrifice?” The Lord is not talking about our sacrifice to Him in thanksgiving or the humility of the heart, or the act that benefits a man giving his life to Christ. The Bible is talking about those ritual sacrifices that benefit no one except your ego or pride. The Lord is not interested in things done in hypocrisy or to cover up immoral behavior. If this is still not settle in your mind then here is an example. “ You decide to meet the churches need by giving over your tithes and offering, not because the Lord said it is better to give than to receive but because you want recognition.” You like having favor in the Pastor’s eyes. Your focus for doing what is right is really unfocused. You seek man’s human favor over God’s favor and bounteous blessings in your life. This is the sacrifice the Lord does not accept. He wants you to to do right by faith and total submission unto Him.

So if you have been doing right by people as a ritual, thinking you are earning brownie points with the Lord, well let me just tell you the truth, you have not. He does not see or honor that type of behavior. If you want to honor Christ then do the right thing in total thanksgiving and humility unto the Father because He is worthy of nothing but total adoration and praise.
