Take Up Your Cross

Do you know what this passage of scripture is saying? It is telling us that as we walk this Christian path, there are burdens we must bear. Christ never promised us we would never suffer, but He did promise to NEVER leave us nor forsake us. He said, “Lo I am with you always until the end of the age. “ These words of affirmation were stated by Christ. So yes, we have burdens to bear on this journey with Christ, but in spite of, we must follow Him because we know His way is the only way to His Father.

Luke 9: 23-24

“Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”

The scripture goes on to say, if you are so worried about saving you physical self and trying not to engage in warfare for the Kingdom, then you will surly not make it to the Kingdom because your priority is on the right now and not what will be for eternity. You are focused on the wrong thing. When you give your life to Christ, He takes over and puts His loving arms around you. He tells us not to worry or fret but to cast ALL our anxieties on Him because He cares for us. So you are suppose to take everything to the Lord in prayer and leave those burdens, pain, even desires with Him to take care of. You should be focused on leading others to Christ. When you are focused on Christ and living your life to please Him no matter what comes your way, you are working toward the real life . The life of eternity with Him and His Father. This is the life you want, a life where you will reign over this earth with Christ, and what a joyous time it will be.

So people of God stop worrying about your right now and pick up your cross and follow Christ all the way to a place that is far more better than rubies or gold. It is the place where there is no more pain or worries. Eternity with the Savior is where I’m headed, how about you? As you work for the Kingdom’s sake remember what Paul said in  Philippians 1:21, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain”, meaning if you live for Christ now your reward in death will be far better because it will be eternal life, which means a life that never ends. This is what I want, don’t you?
