Be A Trendsetter

When I read this scripture,  two things came to me.

1 Timothy 4:12

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

1. I wish this scripture was posted in every children and youth ministry. Our kids are ashamed to show the world they are believers.  This scripture is a reminder to them that God wants them to be an example and be the trend setter among their peers. He wants them to act like a child of the King in their behaviors, in the way they interact with each other and the people around them. He wants them not to be ashamed of who they are and whose they are. They are the child of a real King who owns everything and is very Powerful. God wants them to keep their bodies pure from everything that is not holy, everything that defiles the body in any way.  This is the way Christ wants us as adults to act too which  brings me to my second thought about this scripture.

2.  Let's take the word “youth” and replace it with “believer.” When we said yes to Christ, our mannerisms should start to change. We who are the called, should not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We too should be trend setters in our community of friends. The way we talk and interact with others should be different than the world's way of doing things. Our mannerisms should resemble that of Christ.  If Christ didn't do it, then we shouldn't either. We should love one another and have faith in God that when He said He wil not leave nor forsake us, He meant it. We should strive everyday to keep our bodies free from everything that will defile it. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and when we tattoo, drink, smoke, pop pills, have sex outside of marriage, have unnecessary piercings, eat too much, don't exercise, just know that you are defiling the body God created and the Holy Spirit in you has to succumb to all these things you are allowing to overcome your body.

As you go through your day to day activities remember this scripture and act accordingly.  Also blow this scripture up and put it in your children and youth ministry areas. We should not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
