Humble Yourselves
/Humble is the way says the Lord. In James 4:10 It says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” James 4:6 says, “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” There are many scriptures that talk about humility. The best example of humility is Christ. Christ is the King of kings. He is God the Son. He created the heavens and the earth, yet He humbled Himself and allowed Himself to be the sacrificial lamb for the sins of this world. Christ, who is royalty walked and talked among us. Not one time did He look down on anyone because of His status. He knew who He was and He knew His purpose. When you know who you are in Christ Jesus and you know your purpose, there is no need to boast about your credentials. You know that it is not about you but about the Christ that lives in you. You know that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world 1 John 4:4. You know that the pat on the back from man is temporary but when God exalts you, it means so much more. There are blessings attached to your submissive spirit to the Father. You know that When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom Proverbs 11:2. Many people know these scriptures but fail to live their lives according to God’s word. We still find ourselves lifted up in self pride. Someone congratulated us for a job well done and our pride kicks in. We start acting like it was our power and ability that made it happen, when the real truth is that it was all God. It was not by your might but through Him that strengthened you. He gave you the ability, the strength, the knowledge, so why are you absorbing all the praise for yourself. You should be giving Him the glory for what you were able to accomplish with His guidance and wisdom. When people say I was blessed by your singing today, I look up any say, “All glory to God!” Even when I’m at work and people say, “Wow Ms. Effiom, you did that!” I say, “All the glory belongs to God for His wisdom.” I know and you know that we cannot do anything without God but fail and He can do anything but fail. So be watchful saints for the pride bug. Pride can sneak in at anytime. You have to be aware of prides presence and counter act it’s presence by thanking God. Giving God all the glory and honor for using you to carry out such a task that man thought was congratulatory worthy. Now one thing for sure when you give the praise to God, He uses man to bless you in ways you will not understand. So put pride in check and give God all the glory and honor He deserves and watch how God will continue to elevate you to higher heights.
Be blessed!
