Who Do You Turn To?
/Who do you confide in when you need to talk? Do you have friends you prefer to talk to or is it a family member? Maybe it is your husband. These people can be among those that could possibly give you good counsel, but these same people could also give very bad advice. What does God say about counsel?
James 5:16 says, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” Notice why we can rely on manly counsel, it is so we can pray for each other because as we know and have read in the Bible there is power in prayer. So if you are going to confide in someone make sure they believe in the power of prayer and not the power of gossip! Be careful when you decide to trust someone with your personal business because everyone does not have your best interest at heart. To be honest with you, the best person to confide in is the Lord himself. I tell Him what He already knows and He has never failed me by sending someone with a great word of encouragement and/or advice. The word of God also says, “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” It is true that wisdom from above does not leave a bad taste in mouth. If someone is giving you advice from the Lord, it will not contradict God’s word in any way. It will lead to a peaceable outcome that makes sense and is fruitful for you. When God sends a word it will be a word not only for you but it will also bless others. The word today says the only counsel that will stand the test of time is from God. So let’s make sure we are relying on Him to reveal to us the answer to the problems or concerns we may have. Let’s rely on Him and not become impatient because when we become impatient we tend to go our own way and end up in a worse situation than we were before. You must remember that God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts but He is always correct and on time.
Be blessed today and trust God more with your life.
